Caring for People, Honouring the Earth
In the heart of Bijagós, between the sea and the forest, DaKosta Eco Retreat was born with a dream greater than welcoming travellers: to transform lives, respect culture and protect nature.
It was from this vision that DaKosta Solidário was born, a project that goes beyond tourism and embraces the mission of caring for the community that welcomes us, sharing resources and creating real and sustainable opportunities.
Here, we believe that true luxury is being able to give back. That is why, every day, we work side by side with local communities to support essential areas such as:
- Education
We support local schools with materials, training, food aid and the creation of spaces where children can learn with dignity and dream bigger.
- Food and Health
We promote access to nutritious food, basic healthcare and awareness campaigns in partnership with community leaders and local organisations.
- Training and Employment
We offer practical training in areas such as hospitality, sustainable agriculture, environmental management and crafts, creating fair jobs and opportunities for young people and women in the region.
- Environmental Protection
We work to raise awareness and involve the community in preserving the biodiversity of the Bijagós, with clean-up actions, recycling and responsible use of natural resources.
Tourism that gives something back
Every guest who visits us is part of this network of solidarity. Part of Dakosta Eco Retreat's revenue is channelled into community projects, and our visitors are invited to learn about, contribute to, and engage with these projects — with respect, humility, and empathy.
